ABOUT
THE CENTER

Beaverton is on the verge of a new era.

The Patricia Reser Center for the Arts will be the first performing arts center of its kind to be built in the Portland metro area in more than 30 years. And this vision for what’s possible has been built from the ground up — an intentional, cooperative effort between public and private project champions.

Plaza-PRCA

A dedicated home for arts and culture in Beaverton

The Patricia Reser Center for the Arts will feature:

  • An intimate 550-seat theater with state-of-the-art lighting, custom acoustics and sound
  • A spacious lobby, enveloped in Douglas Fir, for receptions and other events
  • Outdoor plaza for art exhibits, community festivals and other events
  • Rehearsal, workshop and meeting space
  • Art gallery able to accommodate regional and traveling exhibits
  • Adjacent public parking structure

As a gathering place to experience the power, impact and beauty of the arts, PRCA will provide:

  • A home to local arts groups that have diminishing access to existing venues in the region
  • A showcase for the many cultural communities that don’t have access to a professional outlet for their artists and performers
  • A source for lifelong learning for all who seek new experiences, knowledge and cultural awareness
  • A space for some of the best in local, regional and national performers
  • A thought leader on the West Side, hosting and inspiring conversations around our cultural differences and similarities
  • A partner to businesses, schools, colleges, parks departments and other organizations to grow awareness and appreciation for the arts

PRCA will be Beaverton's own shining jewel to complement the cultural attractions the region offers.

Beaverton lies at the gateway to the Metro Region’s West Side. In the heart of the city, you’ll find the emerging Central District, adjacent to The Round with its popular mix of office space, condominiums and local restaurants. The Patricia Reser Center for the Arts will be situated here in the center of it all, accompanied by a public parking structure and just steps away from MAX light-rail transit for convenient resident and visitor access.

HISTORY

The idea for a community-driven performing and visual arts center was conceived in the late 1990s by then-City Councilor and former Mayor of Beaverton Denny Doyle. After years of championing this dream, Mayor Doyle found an ally and kindred spirit in local business leader and philanthropist Pat Reser. This unique public/private partnership has kept the vision for the Center alive and moving forward.

The formal process of conceiving and planning the center began in 2004. Since then, numerous feasibility studies, community surveys and public meetings have consistently shown that if we build a dynamic arts and entertainment center in Beaverton, this community will support it. Today, the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts is a key component of the long-range Beaverton Community Vision Action Plan.

PEOPLE

The Patricia Reser Center for the Arts will be operated by professionally trained staff with volunteer support. Our vision is to create a vibrant destination with something for everyone, and we’ll strive to fulfill demand for relevant programming via community input and audience feedback.

Fundraising for the Center is being led by the Beaverton Arts Foundation staff and board.
